Skipper's Mate
Skipper's Mate Bandwidth Usage Figures
This page is ONLY intended to give an estimate of the likely bandwidth usage of the system features of Skipper's Mate. The system doesn't use much bandwidth at all but if you're going to avoid exceeding any broadband limit you MUST factor in usage by you and your crew when choosing a Mobile Broadband SIM. The Usage and Running Costs page gives some examples of prices from some of the Mobile Internet Providers (EE, Three and Vodafone).
Video streaming is by far the biggest consumer of bandwidth so it may be worth considering the Entertainment Kit which allows you to view stored video/music/photos and to access FreeView TV where it's available.
If you have unlimited broadband at home and want to estimate your personal/crew usage there are a number of sites which have calculators - most of the mobile phone/broadband providers' sites and those for satellite broadband too.

We have been running Skipper's Mate for remote security and have also been spending a few days at a time on board with reasonable browsing usage including the odd YouTube video. So far we haven't got close to using 1Gb per month. When on board for longer periods we use a 3G/4G contract SIM with more bandwidth.
Analogue Sensors such as voltage and temperature (THD) each typically use less than 0.05Gb per sensor per month.
Cameras - live viewing can vary from the low resolution build-in and USB cameras to higher resolution IP cameras. More figures will be available later.
Virtual Boat Visits - this is effectively browsing so low usage.
Captured Video - you would hope that any captured video of intruders would be infrequent. The system is set by default to use low resolution and to stop recording shortly after any movement ceases. Example figures later.
